Welcome

How can you help?

Volunteering
Volunteering is about enjoyment, helping us, making new friends and making a difference. Volunteers are the heart of the branch, and without the volunteers there would be no branch. If you have some time to spare, there are many ways of helping. For example, you might like to help with:

Luncheon clubs, dementia cafes, including kitchen help Carer support groups Social activities for people with dementia

Administrative support Campaigning activities Financial guidance and support Fundraising Information and awareness

Becoming Volunteer coordinator/recruiter/supporter Quality Research in Dementia Consumer Network member

When you have got to know us, there are roles on our branch development committee

You may have special skills to share. You may like to help regularly, or maybe you would like to get involved for a one-off event. It's up to you. Don't hide your light under a bushel! We also have specialised volunteers on our scheme for supporting carers, for which there is training.

Volunteering can be a useful opportunity to gain life experience for your cv, especially if you are interested in working

  • with older people
  • health
  • social work
  • voluntary sector
One of our younger volunteers found the experience so enriching that she has changed her career direction to pursue an MSc in dementia-related studies.

We welcome volunteers from every community and background.

Giving
We are always grateful for peoples' generosity in giving. This may be
  • A one-off gift
  • Regular donations
  • Fund raising events
  • Remember us in a will
  • Donations in lieu of funeral flowers.
If you would like your gifts to help local people, please put Alzheimer's Society
New Forest Branch as otherwise funds are used nationally. If you are a tax-payer, our treasurer can tell you how to make your gift bigger without it costing you more.
Some organisations generously put on events to benefit the branch which are fun as well.

Time
We never forget that your time is a precious gift. Your time and ideas could make a difference.

If this has made you think, ring me to find out more- I am a volunteer too!
